About the Author
This blog is written by Kyle Squire, a barrister at 5 Pump Court Chambers specialising in court of protection and family work. I have a particular interest in mental health, capacity, and decision making and represent parents, patients, and local authorities in cases in the family court and the court of protection. I am regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor to act on behalf of people who cannot make decisions for themselves.
My full Chamber’s profile can be accessed here.
I am authorised to access instructions directly from members of the public (without the need to go via a solicitors). My direct access profile can be accessed here.
About the Blog
I have started this blog primarily to keep myself up to date with legal developments in the fields that interest me. I hope, as an ancillary purpose, it may help others to gain an interest (optimistically), or at least an understanding (more realistically) of these often foreign areas of law.
Nothing in this blog is intended to constitute legal advice. Whilst your case may seem similar to those that may be discussed here, each case turns on its own merits and what may seem like an inconsequential divergence may, in fact, be serious. I cannot accept any responsibility for the information relied upon from within this blog. If in doubt, seek legal advice. I acknowledge that legal advice can be prohibitively expensive, and I think it is a scandal that it is out of reach to so many people, but there are lots of excellent free services out there and (whilst availability has been cut to the bone) legal aid may still be available to you. Speak to a solicitor, barrister, legal advice centre or someone else suitably qualified.
It goes without saying that the content of any sites to which I may link, and to which I have not contributed, are entirely outside of my control and I accept no responsibility for the content.
